2013 Cooper Tyres USF2000 National Championship
This year Michael is competing in the USF2000 National Championship in the USA, presented by Cooper Tyres and powered by Mazda on their Road-to-Indy programme. The American series uses a variation of the Formula Ford F2000 formula and is sanctioned by IndyCar. With previous champions such as J. R. Hildebrand and Dan Wheldon, the championship is considered a prestigious challenge for upcoming drivers.
With great coverage via the Mazda Motorsports Hour program on several American TV stations, racing in front of IndyCar, Grand-Am, USAC and ALMS audiences throughout the season, and prize money at each event and for the overall championship result, it provides an unrivaled amount of exposure and support for those with the attitude and ability to succeed and push their careers to the next level.
With the help of Martyn Pott of P1 Sports, Dan Layton and Jon Baytos, Michael has signed to race with PRL Motorsports in the 2013 season. The team are effectively quite new, owned by Patrick Linn, but have a huge history of experience in the 2 litre formula and also Pro Mazda, especially Michael’s engineer John Walko.
